Neuroscience & AI

Neuroscience is the study of the nervous system, including the brain, and how it influences behavior and cognition. AI, on the other hand, is the field of computer science that focuses on creating intelligent machines that can perform tasks that typically require specialised, human intelligence. It cannot replace the human input to any result, but it is a tool, to deliver an output at a faster (automated) rate.

The relationship between AI and neuroscience is a two-way street. On one hand, neuroscience can inspire new AI techniques and models by providing insights into how the brain’s decisioning works. For example, deep learning, which is a popular AI technique, was inspired by the structure and function of the human brain's neural networks.

On the other hand, AI can also inform neuroscience research by providing new tools and methods for analyzing and synthesising brain data. For example, AI algorithms can be used to analyze brain scans and identify patterns that may not be immediately apparent to human researchers, in a shorter amount of time with more certainty and predictability to make informed decisions for a business, in short and long term.
